Questions

This element type enables you to obtain information directly from users. Question elements are an essential element of most Interaction applications. Their use is widespread and very flexible.

Question elements are designed to be answered in one of the following ways:

The user can provide input

Users enter free text. When this option is selected, the Input tab is enabled. The Input tab allows you to set the format of the response, and assign either a default answer or placeholder text.  For details, refer to Configuring Input Settings.

Yes/No response

This option offers users a limited choice. Users select one of two possible responses.

Multiple choices

This option offers users a more varied choice. Users select one or more options from a list of choices.

The following examples illustrate uses of Questions to obtain different types of information from users:

Age: User input field, with input set to be numeric.

Salary: User input field, with input set to currency. The input can be formatted with the local specific notation.

Choice of products: Users choose from a list read from a collection.

Creating and modifying Question elements involves specifying parameters in the following tabs of the Question Definition dialog:

General: Displays all the text associated with the Question element, including the question itself and all other messages and prompts that are displayed before and after the question. For details, refer to Configuring General Settings.

Input: Enables you to configure the format of the response to the Question. This tab is enabled only when the Question Type is The user can provide input. For details, refer to Configuring Input Settings.

Choices: Enables you to select the format in which choices are displayed, and the order in which the choices appear. When the Question Type is The user can provide input, this tab is disabled. For details, refer to Configuring Choice Settings.

Settings: Enables you to set actions that are available to users, and information that is seen by users. For details, refer to Working with the Settings Tab.

Help: Enables you to configure help text settings. For details, refer to Configuring Help Settings.
